TYLER — Tyler Police responded to an accident on NNW Loop 323 involving multiple vehicles. According to our news partner KETK, a Tyler ISD bus was one of the vehicles caught up with two other vehicles, one of which was overturned. There were a total of 7 autos in the crash. No students were on the bus at the time of the accident. Motorists were asked to avoid the area, as all northbound lanes on that part of the loop were closed for an undisclosed time. Officers and emergency personnel worked the crash, temporarily closing down northbound lanes of traffic and asking motorists to seek an alternate route.
Fit City Tyler remembers coalition member in his death
TYLER — Fit City Tyler commended one of their coalition members Tuesday, who died last week. Bob Moore was honored for being a ‘vocal local’ promoting walking as a convenient and accessible form of exercise for anyone, and spreading the word in his hometown of Canton. Moore continually demonstrated his support of Fit City Tyler, and helped expand Fit City Tyler’s message to his hometown. In 2013, the Texas House of Representatives passed a resolution that was by State authored by Senator Bob Deuell and sponsored by State Representative Dan Flynn to officially designate the City of Canton as the official walking capitol of Texas. San Antonio man arrested in connection with Tyler shooting
TYLER — A San Antonio man is charged with murder for his alleged connection to a shooting in Tyler back in July. According to our news partner KETK, Trey Barreau, 23, was taken into custody Monday night after a warrant for his arrest was issued by 241st District Judge Jack Skeen. He is now being held in the Smith County Jail on a $500,000 bond. On July 9, 21-year-old Draveon McCullough was found dead with a gunshot wound on West Vance Street in Tyler. Police say that McCullough had pointed a gun at a homeowner and then a fight broke out. During the struggle, McCullough was shot and killed. Tyler Transit commemorates Rosa Parks Day
TYLER — Dec. 1 marks the anniversary that signified a milestone in the Civil Rights movement. In Montgomery, Alabama, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat in the “colored” section of the bus for a white passenger. After refusing the bus driver’s order to move, she was arrested for civil disobedience. Rosa Parks went on to further the cause of civil rights, becoming known as the “mother of the freedom movement.†Due to COVID-19, the City of Tyler will not be hosting the annual celebration in honor of Rosa Parks, according to a city news release. Instead, the Tyler Transit Department will commemorate the day by reserving the first seat in the fixed-route buses for Rosa Parks.
Hit-N-Run pedestrian fatality in Van Zandt County
CANTON — DPS Troopers responded to a fatal crash on SH 198 south west of the city of Canton in Van Zandt County. Preliminary information indicates that the driver of a vehicle was traveling north on SH 198 and struck a pedestrian that was in the roadway. The driver fled the scene. Steven Lynn Chambless, 58, of Canton was identified as the pedestrian. Judge Sandra Plaster pronounced Chambless dead at the scene and he was taken to Eubanks Funeral Home in Canton. This is an active investigation and more information will be released as soon as it is available.
Nursing program receives $90,000 grant
KILGORE — The Kilgore College Nursing Program has been awarded a $90,000 grant from the Nursing Innovation Grant Program. Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board awarded the money to the school. According to the college the THECB created the grant program to “support clinical learning experiences to mitigate impediments due to COVID-19.†The money awarded will be used to purchase additional equipment that will allow for an increase in simulation hours for KC nursing students.

Structure fire in Rusk County
RUSK COUNTY — Henderson Fire and Church Hill VFD responded to a residential structure fire on Saturday. According to a post from the Rusk County OEM, the fire happened on CR 228D in Rusk County. at around 2:00 p.m. Saturday. It is unknown whether any injuries took place. HFD reported the fire was quickly contained and shortly under control. Officials remained on the scene until the fire was completely extinquished.
DPS continues stepped up patrol thru Thanksgiving Weekend
AUSTIN – With one day left in the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, DPS is reminding motorists that traffic will remain fierce. The Texas Department of Public Safety is urging travelers to make safety as many will be returning through the Holiday weekend. DPS began operation ‘CARE’ leading into long weekend last Wednesday. Troopers continue looking for driver who are speeding, driving while intoxicated, failing to wear a seat belt, driving without insurance and not complying with the state’s Move Over, Slow Down law, among other traffic violations.
Hawkins Chamber Building hit by vehicle, Police seeking community input
HAWKINS — The Hawkins Area Chamber of Commerce will be closed until a structural engineer can clear the building as safe. In a chamber post Saturday, the organization said that sometime over the holiday weekend, someone jumped the curb, ran over the mailbox and slammed into the building. White paint was left behind after hitting it hard enough to put a hole in the building. The Chamber is inviting the public to come forward with information about the wreck by contacting them or the Hawkins Police department.

2 brothers shot minutes apart in Longview just blocks apart
LONGVIEW — Two brothers were shot in Longview at two Birdsong Street addresses Friday afternoon. According to our news partner KETK,police say these are related incidents, after being called to a home in the 800 block of Birdsong at 12:50 p.m. on a report that a shooting had taken place. Around 15 minutes later, police were called to a second shooting at the intersection of Birdsong and Mobberly streets. Both men are expected to make a full recovery. As of Friday night, no one had been arrested in connection with these incidents. Police are asking for help in learning more. Harrison County officer injured making arrests after man killed at ‘party event’
MARSHALL — A man was shot to death early Friday morning in Harrison County. According to our news partner KETK, the shooting happened at a ‘party event’ near the intersection of Loop 281 and I20. The victim, was not immediately identified, died of a gunshot wound at CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Hospital. KILGORE — Kilgore College is very familiar with Aramark having used the company for its food, dining and catering services for over a quarter of a century. Now the college is entering a partnership with the company that will provide custodial, grounds and facility maintenance services through 2023. The result comes about after a collaborative request for proposals process including input from students, faculty and staff. Aramark serves hundreds of educational institutions, sports teams and businesses around the world.

Free hot meals passed out drive-thru style in Longview
LONGVIEW — A Longview councilman, Wray Wade remains committed to a tradition of passing out free Thanksgiving meals. Due to the coronavirus, community members drove through the Broughton Recreation Center, for a hot free meal. Janice Tolbert told our news partner KETK, “It’s beautiful to see people lined up wanting to get a plate of food. It’s beautiful to be serving alongside other people in the community, people who actually have a heart for service. It’s all about spreading love, and fellow-shipping with one another even though we are socially distanced.†Wade said turnout was great and plans to continue the tradition again next year.

CR 2110 reopens in Smith County after repairs
SMITH COUNTY — Smith County Road 2110 reopened just in time for the Thanksgiving Holiday. According to County Engineer Frank Davis, the road, South of Arp, between Texas Highway 135 and CR 2160, was closed last week for repairs. A large amount of debris from previous rains caused erosion to the bridge head-wall, where the bridge ties into the road and creek bank. Smith County Road and Bridge crews repaired the damage making safe for drivers.
Accidental shooting claims life of 1-year-old
KAUFMAN COUNTY — A 14-year old boy from an area near Forney has been arrested for a juvenile court charge of unlawfully carrying a firearm after a shooting Tuesday, that killed a one-year-old. The shooting happened at a home in the Windmill Farms subdivision. Investigators say a woman left a 9-year-old and a one-year-old in the home while she went to the store. A 14-year-old neighbor boy came over and according to the charge, had a handgun with him. Nobody is saying exactly what happened. The gun fired a round through the hand of the 9-year old’s hand and hitting the one-year-old in the head. Investigator Jolie Stewart says the 14-year-old will face two charges in Juvenile Court, unlawful carrying of a gun and making a firearm accessible to a child.
Greenberg announces ground breaking for new plant
TYLER — Greenberg Smoked Turkey ships thousands of birds each year to customers across the nation. However, an explosion and fire earlier this month, destroyed two buildings, and most of the inventory for this year’s holiday feast. On Wednesday, the company posted a scheduled ground breaking for their new facility, that will take place on Nov. 30. Man arrested in connection to shooting in Marshall
MARSHALL — Several people were involved in an altercation at a Marshall gas station. After the confrontation, it is believed that Terrikk Tyrel Roberts drove to another party’s home where he shot at the residents in front of the house. No one was hit by the gunfire. Marshall police say Roberts was arrested on the charge of deadly conduct – discharging a firearm. At the time of his arrest, Roberts also had an outstanding warrant from Gregg County for Possession of Marijuana over four ounces and under five pounds. Roberts was transported to Harrison County Jail.
Shreveport man pleads not guilty in shooting death of Panola Deputy Dickerson
PANOLA COUNTY — The Shreveport man accused of killing a Panola County Sheriff’s Deputy pleaded not guilty to capital murder this week. According to our news partner KETK, Greggory Newson, 48, did so in a zoom meeting. Newson is accused in the shooting death of Deputy Chris Dickerson. During a traffic stop, Deputy Dickerson was shot 6 times, before Newson drove away. He was later caught and arrested in Louisiana.
Marshall police arrest suspected child predator
MARSHALL — The Marshall Police Department was assisted by DPS in the arrest of Dayton Shai Bonner of Longview. According to MPD Bonner was arrested on a second degree felony charge of criminal solicitation of a minor. Bonner was arrested at Kidsview Park in Longview and placed in the Harrison County jail. KILGORE — The Kilgore Rangerette’s announced Tuesday, they will host their tenth annual Christmas show Dec. 12-13 at the LeTourneau University Belcher Center in Longview. The Broadway-style show, “Christmas Extravaganza 2020,†is being moved to the Belcher Center this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which will maximize attendance and allow for social distancing guidelines to be observed. Hundreds in line for meal give-a-way from GABC and ETFB
TYLER — A free drive-thru distribution took place Monday at the Green Acres Baptist Church parking lot in Tyler. According to our news partner KETK, 1,152 boxes of food were distributed to families were served in less than 2 hours in partnership with the East Texas Food Bank. There were 90 volunteers that were a part of the give-a-way, that had some cars lining up hour before it began, with cars at times in a line over a mile long. Longview Police seeking public’s help locating person of interest
LONGVIEW — A to Z Mart was robbed earlier this month. On Tuesday the Longview Police Department asked for the public’s help in the Nov. 6th robbery, where the person of interest, displayed a firearm. According to the departments post on their facebook page, the person wanted in connection is a Hispanic male that 5′ 6″, between 220 and 250 pounds. and was last seen wearing a blue hoodie, black mask, black pants, shoes, and backpack.
