KILGORE — The FBI is now helping the investigation into a Kilgore woman’s disappearance. Investigators say as more time passes,the more reason they have to believe Christina Davison was abducted. According to KETK, the case is now being investigated as an abduction and possible homicide. Davison has been missing since May 16th when one of her co-workers at Whataburger called police for a welfare check after she didn’t show up for work. Marshall Man Arrested in Toddler’s Death
MARSHALL – A Marshall man has been arrested on a capital murder warrant in the death of a toddler. Arrested Tuesday night was Deterryon Tyrell Kelly, 26, the boyfriend of the dead child’s mother. On May 6th, Marshall police received a report of an unresponsive child at a Marshall motel. The 21 month old was rushed to Good Shepherd Medical Center-Marshall where he later died. After the completed autopsy report was received Tuesday, the arrest warrant was issued for Kelly. He was arrested and booked into the Harrison County Jail Tuesday night.
5-Year-Old From Fatal Crash Taken Off Life Support
DALLAS — A boy who was critically injured in a Smith County crash has died in a Dallas hospital. According to family members, Aiden Eynon, 5, was taken off life support Tuesday at Children’s Medical Center. KETK reports a second child, a girl, is still in critical condition following the fatal two-vehicle wreck Saturday. The accident happened just after noon on Highway 271, just south of FM 16. DPS Troopers said a truck hydroplaned and ran into an 18-wheeler parked on the side of the road. The father and driver of the truck, Thomas Eynon, 43, was killed in the accident. Inmate from East Texas Dead in Prison Van, Car Wreck
CAMERON (AP) – An inmate convicted in East Texas has been killed and several others are among six people hurt in a Central Texas collision between a car and a van hauling prisoners. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice on Tuesday identified the female inmate who died as Ellaree Mathews, 53. She was serving less than a year for a conviction out of Angelina County. Mathews was pronounced dead at the scene late Monday morning near Cameron. The Department of Public Safety says the wreck involved a van hauling four female inmates from the Crain Unit in Gatesville to a substance abuse treatment facility in Beaumont. Officials say one inmate and one transport worker were treated and released. Conditions of the other two injured prisoners and the two drivers weren’t immediately available.
Lindale Man Wanted by SCSO
TYLER — Detectives with the Smith County Sheriff’s Office say they need the public’s help in locating Dennis Lynch, age 45, of Lindale. Lynch is wanted on a charge of aggravated assault/strangulation or suffocation of a family member. Judge Randall Rogers of County Court at Law 2 issued the warrant in April after Lynch was accused of attempting to strangle his common-law wife, but officials say Lynch has managed to evade arrest. One Arrested in Kilgore Shooting
KILGORE — Kilgore police arrested one person Tuesday morning following a shooting on the southeast side of the city. KETK reports that at around 7:07 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Peach Street after a caller reported someone had been shot. When authorities arrived at the scene, they found Craig Slayter, 53, of Kilgore, had allegedly fired a bullet into a truck parked in front of his home. The shot went through the door of the vehicle and hit a man in the leg. He was identified as Bobby Reid, 43, of Carthage. The incident was the result of an argument between the two men, police said. Slayter (pictured) was arrested and booked into the Kilgore jail on an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge. Reid was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

Woman Gets 25 Years for Sexual Assault of 3-Year-Old
LONGVIEW — A Kilgore woman has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after she pleaded guilty to aggravated child sexual assault. KETK reports that on Monday, Cassandra Stone, 34, waived her right to a trial by jury after being charged with indecency with a child and sexually assaulting a child under the age of six. According to authorities, Stone, along with Jesse Smith and Peggy Weinberg, assaulted the child in their home. The child was three years old at the time of the assault. Texas Police Investigate Alleged Fish-in-Face Case
LUFKIN (AP) – A domestic disturbance call at an East Texas home includes a police report that a woman used a dead catfish to smack her sister-in-law in the face. Lufkin police on Tuesday said nobody has been charged amid conflicting stories from a husband, his wife and his sister. Sgt. Mike Shurley says no one was hurt in Sunday’s incident. Investigators are trying to determine what sparked the fight. Officers were summoned after a woman allegedly used a fish to slap her sister-in-law in the face, the brother and sister argued and he asked his sibling to leave. Shurley says the sister called police to report being assaulted. Shurley says the man was detained on an outstanding traffic warrant but was no longer in custody Tuesday. His name wasn’t immediately released.
Tyler Police Investigate Pharmacy Burglary
TYLER — Police are looking for four suspects in connection with the burglary of a Tyler pharmacy. Around 3:45 yesterday morning officers were notified of a commercial alarm sounding at Good’s Medicine Chest Pharmacy, 2130 West Grande. Officials said the building had noticeable signs of a burglary but there were no suspects at the scene. Upon reviewing store surveillance video, it was found that four subjects were involved. Two entered the store and the other two acted as look outs. All four were wearing dark clothing, masks and gloves. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Tyler Police Department or Crimestoppers.
Cause of East Texas Fertilizer Lot Fire Unknown
ATHENS (AP) — Investigators have been unable to determine the cause of a fertilizer fire at an East Texas farm supply lot. Officials said Monday there is no evidence or indication of a criminal or intentional act that caused last week’s fire. The fire broke out at the East Texas Ag Supply lot in Athens about 6:00 last Thursday evening and flames reached about 60 feet. No injuries were reported. Athens Fire Chief John McQueary says “the only causes that could not be eliminated are related to an electrical failure.” Fertilizer fires have been of concern in Texas since an April 2013 fertilizer plant explosion killed 15, injured about 200 others and devastated the Central Texas town of West.
Longview Man Charged with Drug Violations
LONGVIEW – A Longview man is facing a variety of drug charges following his arrest at a Longview Motel. Taken into custody was Michael Lynn Box, 51. As police were talking with him outside his room, they saw a glass water pipe in the room. After they got permission to search his room, officers found assorted drug paraphernalia, under one gram of crack cocaine, more than four grams of methamphetamine and two ounces of Marijuana. Box is facing two charges of manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.
Possible Drowning in Cedar Creek Lake
CEDAR CREEK LAKE — The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a possible drowning. According to KETK, the body of Robert Ralph George, 62, of Dallas, was pulled from Cedar Creek Lake in Henderson County on Sunday around 8:00 p.m. Boaters also found an unattended SeaDoo water craft running on the lake around 5:25 Saturday afternoon. Officials say a life jacket was hanging on the side of the SeaDoo. George’s body was taken to the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences for autopsy. The cause of death is still pending toxicology results.
Marshall PD: Man Shot Brother during Argument
MARSHALL — One person has been jailed after he allegedly shot his brother during a dispute. KETK reports shortly after 4:20 Sunday afternoon, Marshall officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of Hynson Street on reports of a disturbance and gunfire. While headed to the location, police received word a gunshot victim was at Squeaky Clean Express in the 1400 block of United Flight Ninety. When authorities made it the car wash, officers found Bobby Fred Williams, 59, with a single gunshot wound to the back. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The victim is expected to survive. Williams told law enforcement he was shot by his brother, Charles Williams, 60, during an argument on Hynson Street. The suspect (pictured) was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and booked into the Harrison County Jail.
Firefighter’s Stolen Pickup Recovered
ATHENS — Athens police have found the truck stolen from the Athens Fire Department on Thursday. KETK reports police found firefighter Gene Lattis’s truck in Poynor early Sunday morning. His truck and several other items were stolen Thursday night while firefighters were responding to the massive fire at a fertilizer plant in the city. Police said Lattis’s truck was being dusted for fingerprints and searched for information leading to those responsible for the theft.
Man Held on $250,000 Bond after Allegedly Taking Father Hostage
MARSHALL — Harrison County Sheriff’s Office officials announced the man accused of holding his father hostage at gunpoint over the weekend will be held on $250,000 bond. KETK reports Bruce McMeans, 50, has been charged with aggravated assault on a public servant and injury to an elderly person. Alleged Drug Dealer Arrested Over Reported Mutilation
LONGVIEW — A Longview man has been arrested after police say he nearly cut off an acquaintances’ pinky finger while trying to collect a drug debt. According to the White Oak Police Department, Aaron Li Fisher, 18, invited a 16-year-old friend to hang out at a house on North White Oak Road. While together, Fisher confronted the teen about a drug debt he owed and that’s when officials say Fisher forced the victim to the ground. A third man stood on the victim’s arm while Fisher stabbed the victim’s finger with a pocket knife, severing the bone. Fisher was booked into the Gregg County Jail but posted his $20,000 bond the day after his arrest.

LETU Wins John Deere Grants Totaling $14,000
LONGVIEW — LeTourneau University in Longview recently received two grants totaling $14,000 to provide for five student scholarships and to acquire the VineUp software to facilitate a pilot mentoring program between John Deere employees and LETU students. Seven LETU engineering alumni who currently work at John Deere have volunteered to participate, according to Paul Boggs, director of LETU’s Office of Sponsored Programs. LETU officials say the purpose of the initiative is to create graduates who meet today’s workforce needs and to reduce employer training costs for new graduates. Also, the stated goal is to ensure that LETU engineering students are gaining the skills required in the workplace during their educational journey and to improve student motivation and persistence to succeed at LeTourneau in their future careers. Officials say the program also allows LETU students to build a network of professional contacts in their chosen fields.
Gladewater Man Killed Attempting Vehicle Repair
GLADEWATER — A Gladewater man died after being pinned under the front suspension of a roll back wrecker truck while trying to work on the vehicle. According to the Longview News-Journal, it happened Saturday morning at a shop in the 1800 block of Cannon Street in Gladewater. Police said Titus Tyrone Prince, 47, was attempting to replace the exhaust system on the vehicle and had the truck on “some homemade vehicle ramps.” Police were told by John Black Jr. of Gladewater that the vehicle had rolled over Prince, pinning him. Prince was unresponsive, and emergency personnel were unable to find a pulse.
One Dead, Two Critical Following Smith County Wreck

Woman Jailed for Embezzling over $300K from Longview ISD Foundation
LONGVIEW — A Henderson woman is in jail after pleading guilty to embezzling over $300,000 from the Longview ISD Education Foundation. KETK reports Patricia Hesler was sentenced to serve one year in jail after pleading guilty to forgery and first-degree felony theft. She pleaded guilty to the charges in March, after she admitted to stealing $320,000 from the foundation while working as an administrative assistant for the accounting firm the foundation uses. The embezzlement took place over a four-year period. In addition to jail time, 10 years of probation, and community service, Hesler will be required to pay back all $320,000 she stole. Kidnapping/Assault Suspect Believed to Be in Longview Area
MT. PLEASANT — East Texas Law enforcement is looking for a man accused of kidnapping and assaulting a woman in Titus County on Monday, and authorities say he’s believed to be in the Longview area. KETK reports authorities seek Ryan Jacob Schmidt, 35. Schmidt allegedly attacked and threatened to kill a woman while driving on Highway 271 until the victim jumped from the moving vehicle in fear of her life, according to the Titus County Sheriff’s Office. Titus County deputies first learned of the incident when Camp County Sheriff’s Office officials reported an assault victim at a hospital in Pittsburg. Rusk State Hospital Patient Reported Missing
RUSK — The Texas Department of State Health Services confirmed a patient at Rusk State Hospital has been reported missing. According to DSHS spokesperson Christine Mann, the patient left the grounds sometime between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. Thursday. Mann said no additional information about the patient could be released. KETK reports the Rusk Police Department has been notified of the disappearance.

ATHENS — Authorities continue to investigate a fertilizer fire at an Athens farm supply after announcing that the location is being treated as a crime scene. Meanwhile, according to KETK, city officials moved forward with local activities at another location after a slight delay. Staffers at the East Texas Arboretum said opening activities Friday at the Fiddlers Reunion “Jam Session” were moved to the Arboretum, with festivities returning to the downtown square at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Missing Kids with Tyler Connection Sought by Officials
TYLER — The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services is seeking the help of the public in finding the following children who are classified as missing by the state: Zachary Edenfield, 6; Izaak Edenfield, 4; and Rachel Edenfield, 1. KETK reports the parents of the children are Tasha McQuigg, 24, and John Edenfield, 26, who are also missing — and the family’s last known address was in Tyler. The department was granted custody of the children Thursday due to allegations of neglectful supervision. Officials have been actively looking for the children for several weeks now due to a current intake on this family, according to information from DFPS. Deputies Respond to Disturbance at Azleway Boys Ranch
SMITH COUNTY — Law enforcement intervened in a disturbance Friday at Azleway Boys Ranch in Smith County. At approximately 11:37 Friday morning, Smith County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a 911 call that a student at the ranch had been assaulted by another student. The caller advised that both boys were still on scene and had been separated by staff members at Azleway. Paramedics as well as Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies and sergeants were dispatched and arrived on scene at approximately 11:55 a.m. The victim was said to be alert when paramedics arrived and was transported to ETMC for treatment of injuries. Sheriff’s deputies and detectives interviewed witnesses to gather information on the events that occurred. This is an ongoing investigation and more information will be released as it becomes available, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
Changes at East Texas Regional Airport
GREGG COUNTY — East Texas Regional Airport announces some upgrades. The new terminal baggage claim area has been opened with a new, larger baggage conveyor system. As part of the East Texas Regional Airport Renovation Project, the baggage claim area has been relocated to the north lobby, according to a news release. Also, the rental car counters have been relocated to the same area. Officials say this change provides more space and convenience for arriving passengers. Restaurant Faces Gay Backlash
PITTSBURG — Big Earl’s Restaurant in Pittsburg is facing a unique backlash on social media. That after an LGBT couple was called a gay slur by a waitress and told not to return. One observer says, “I think the restaurant better learn to adapt, or they will probably have to close their doors soon if the online initiative actually works out.” Some in the Dallas gay community are actually planning a road trip there. Another person says, “I think it’s a fantastic idea, and I’ll be there.” And Big Earl says bring it on. Kristina Cheney is his daughter and the waitress who actually made the homophobic remark. She says, “We are aware that they are intending to come out here. We’re ready for ’em, so we’ve informed the sheriff’s department.”
Followup Continues after Longview Cemetery Vandalism
LONGVIEW (AP/Staff) – Officials at Longview’s Greenwood Cemetery and the local cemetery association are considering their next moves after vandals damaged nearly 90 headstones at the Greenwood facility. The cemetery association is considering raising the money needed to install surveillance cameras. The Longview News-Journal reports some of the older headstones could cost up to $1,000 to repair. Some of the headstones were moved, while others were knocked over and damaged. Older headstones, including some obelisks, were toppled and broken into pieces. Police believe the vandalism occurred Tuesday.
