LONGVIEW — A Kilgore woman has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after she pleaded guilty to aggravated child sexual assault. KETK reports that on Monday, Cassandra Stone, 34, waived her right to a trial by jury after being charged with indecency with a child and sexually assaulting a child under the age of six. According to authorities, Stone, along with Jesse Smith and Peggy Weinberg, assaulted the child in their home. The child was three years old at the time of the assault.
According to the criminal complaint filed for Weinberg’s arrest, Weinberg claimed she was with her boyfriend, Smith, and her friend Stone — and that while in a drug-induced state, they all decided to have sex with each other. Weinberg told a Gregg County sheriff’s investigator she fell asleep and that when she woke up, she saw Smith and Stone touching the child. However, Stone told investigators Weinberg said, “Let’s play around” and encouraged Smith and Stone to molest the child, according to the criminal complaints.
Smith was sentenced to 30 years in state prison without the eligibility of parole, while Weinberg received two 30-year prison sentences to be served concurrently. Since her arrest, Stone has remained in Gregg County Jail on a $250,000 bond, allowing her to collect 561 days of jail credit. She will also be required to register as a sex offender upon her release from prison.
