MARSHALL — The Marshall Police Department says a 16-year-old girl who had been missing since Christmas Eve has been found. Emmera Johnson of Marshall had last been seen on December 24th around the Belaire Manor Apartments. Police had sought the public’s help in locating the teenager. The Marshall Police Department says the girl was found in Longview and was returned to her family.
Investigation: Christmas Eve Fire in Longview Was Intentional
LONGVIEW — Longview fire investigators have determined a Christmas Eve fire at a residence on Hickory Street was intentionally set. According to the Longview News-Journal, fire officials said no one was home when the fire broke out shortly after 10 a.m. Friday. The blaze left the home uninhabitable with heat and smoke damage. On Tuesday, Fire Marshal Johnny Zackary said the blaze had been added to the list of intentional fires in the city. Anyone with information related to Friday’s incident or other fires is asked to call Gregg County Crimestoppers at (903) 236-7867.
Shots Fired in Tyler
TYLER — Tyler police are looking into a disturbance at the Eastwood Apartments at 1030 Old Omen Road. Shortly before 7:45 last night there was a call of gunshots at the apartments. During the disturbance, someone discharged a firearm and damaged a vehicle. No one was injured. The investigation is ongoing.
Work on Sunnybrook and Old Bascom Road
TYLER — The City of Tyler Streets Department will close the northwest bound lanes of Sunnybrook Drive between Robertson Avenue and Kennedy Avenue from 9:00am to 3:00pm on Wednesday. High Water Rescues in Upshur County
BIG SANDY — Two persons have been rescued from high water in Upshur County. The first rescue happened around 5:30 Tuesday morning north of Big Sandy at Big Sandy Creek on Farm Road 1002 and Aspen Trail. A woman was first rescued. She has been taken to Tyler’s Mother Francis Hospital for treatment. About an time later a driver, who drove around the fire trucks, also had to be rescued. He was not injured. Fire department crews from Big Sandy, Gilmer, Pritchett and Mount Pleasant fire departments took part in the rescues.

Tyler Traffic Cabinet Destroyed
TYLER — A South Tyler traffic accident has destroyed a traffic control cabinet. The accident occurred at Southtown Street and Broadway Avenue. Because the cabinet was destroyed, this has caused the intersection to operate in recall mode. The traffic signal may be out of sync in comparison to others in the area. The city is currently working with suppliers to find a replacement cabinet. It is expected to be replaced by Thursday afternoon.
Four Tornadoes Reported in East Texas
EAST TEXAS — The National Weather Service is now reporting four tornadoes in East Texas on Saturday. Two storm forecasters were in Harrison county today, surveying damage north of Marshall. The forecasters say the damage was caused by an EF-2 tornado. The Sunday evening storm destroyed houses and barns, snapped trees in two and knocked out electricity. The most affected area is near Farm Road 1793. While the damage is extensive, no injuries have been reported. Around 250 homes are without power. It could take several days before the power is completely restored. Other weaker storms were reported at Emory, Eustace and at Sulphur Springs. The national Weather Service says those were EF-0 storms with maximum winds around 70mph.
Smith County Burglary Suspects Sought
TYLER — The Smith County Sheriff’s office is asking for the public’s help in identifying two burglary suspects. They are accused of breaking into the Shell Station on Interstate Highway 20 at Jim Hogg Road north of Tyler around 5:00 last Wednesday morning. From the photos captured by the stores security cameras, both appear to be white males 5’7†to 6†tall, both wearing mask, one is camo design the other appears to have some type of logo or design stitched on the front. Tyler Senior Center Closed due to Power Outage
TYLER — The Tyler Senior Center was closed yesterday today due to a power outage. City officials said Oncor worked to replace a damaged pole and restored power to the area. The center, located on Garden Valley Road a short distance west of the Glenwood intersection, will be back in operation today.

One Killed in Longview Shooting
LONGVIEW — A shooting in a parking lot of a Longview business left one man dead and one injured. It happened around 12:30 Saturday afternoon at the Family Dollar store at the intersection of South High Street and Garfield Drive. Killed was Michael Louis Boyd, 42 of Longview. The other man is identified as Arthur Lee Taylor III 35, of Longview. (pictured) He was treated and released at Good Shepherd Medical Center. He was then arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. There is no word this morning if that charge will be upgraded as the investigation continues. Man Sought in Tyler Shooting
TYLER — Tyler police are still looking for a man suspected of being involved in a Christmas day shooting. An arrest warrant has been issued for Joshua Dewayne Berry, 29, of Tyler. He is wanted for the wounding of a man around 2:15 Christmas morning in the 1100 block of West Gentry Parkway. The man, with a couple of gunshot wounds, was taken by private vehicle to Mother Francis Hospital. Following surgery, he was in ICU at the hospital.
Two Injured in Longview Shooting
LONGVIEW — Two men are hospitalized after a Longview shooting. It happened just after 12:30 Saturday afternoon at the Family Dollar Store at the intersection of South High Street and Garfield Drive. Longview police were in the area of the store and heard the shots. The shooting occurred in the store’s parking lot. The men are said to have gotten out of their vehicles and opened fire on each other. What led to the confrontation is not known. Both were taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center. No word on their condition.
Tyler Christmas Tree Recycling
TYLER — Christmas tree recycling is beginning in Tyler. The city and Keep Tyler Beautiful are providing two locations for Christmas tree recycling. Residents can drop off their undecorated, non-flocked, natural Christmas trees in designated areas at Golden Road Park at the intersection of McDonald Road and Golden Road and at Fun Forest Park in the 900 block of North Glenwood Boulevard. Pedestrian Killed Just North of Tyler
TYLER — One person has been killed in a vehicle-pedestrian accident in Smith County. It happened shortly after 1:15 Christmas morning on Loop 323 at Lavender Road. Killed was Hugo Garcia, 55, of Tyler. He was attempting to cross the loop when hit. No charges have been filed against the Tyler resident who was driving the vehicle.
One in Custody in Marshall Murder
MARSHALL — An arrest has been made in a Marshall homicide, and police say others might be involved. In the Harrison County jail under a $1 million bond is Norris Wayne Jackson of Marshall. The Longview News Journal reports he is charged in last Tuesday’s shooting death of Dominque Moody, 22. He was found shot to death Tuesday afternoon at the Ward Plaza Apartments, 1603 Martin Luther King Boulevard. No word on what led to the shooting.

Driver Arrested Following Longview Wreck
LONGVIEW — A Longview man has been arrested on a drunk driving charge following a head on collision that left several persons injured. Cain Santiago-Ferral, 26, is charged with accident involving serious bodily injury, two counts of intoxication assault with a vehicle causing severe bodily injury, and driving while intoxicated with a child younger than 15. A 13 year old girl and a 16 year old girl were in his car, which hit a van carrying eight people. The accident happened just before 6:00 Wednesday night in the 300 Block of Spur 63.
Palestine Forgery Suspect Identified
PALESTINE — A Cherokee County resident remains in the Anderson County jail on bonds totaling $50,000 on forgery charges. Jesse Stein, 32, of Jacksonville, was arrested in Palestine on Tuesday. The arrest followed a tip concerning an online ad for gold coins. A Palestine coin collector felt the price for the coins was too low and thought they might be counterfeit. Palestine police contacted the Secret Service and a meeting was arranged with the suspect. When it was obvious the coins were not real, Stein was arrested. In his vehicle officers found more fake coins along with counterfeit paper currency and fake identification cards.
Cherokee County Home Destroyed by Fire
CUNEY — A Cherokee County family has lost everything, including their Christmas presents, in a Christmas Eve fire. It was reported around 10:30 this morning on County Road 3502 near Cuny. Also lost in the balze was the family’s minivan. There were no injuries. The cause of the fire remains under investigation
Another Hammer Robbery in Smith County
TYLER — For the second time in two days, a Smith County business has been robbed by a man with a hammer. The latest incident was around 5:30 Thursday morning when a man held up the Minute Stop convenience store at 11874 Highway 64 West. The same store was robbed by a man with a hammer nearly 48 hours earlier. The clerk told sheriff’s deputies the man walked behind the counter and started taking money from the cash register. He was then driven from the store by someone in a brown or gold extended cab pickup. There were no injuries. Longview Shooting Under Investigation
LONGVIEW — One person was injured this morning following a shooting at a Longview nightclub. According to KETK, the shooting happened around 2:00. Police say the victim was shot at the nightclub, then drove home and called 9-1-1. They were taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. Police have not said exactly where the shooting happened. They did say they are searching for a person of interest.
Three Men Indicted on Child Sex Charges
GREGG COUNTY — A Gregg County grand jury has handed felony indictments to three men on separate child sex assault charges. According to the Longview News-Journal, Deadrian McKinley(pictured), 20, of Gladewater, was indicted on two counts of aggravated assault of a child. Both included an Oct. 23 offense date. Longview Police Hand Out Gift Cards
LONGVIEW — A couple of Longview police officers handed out gift cards last night, instead of tickets. An anonymous donor gave the police department gift cards with the instructions to spread some Christmas cheer to those doing the right thing in Longview. Rate Hike for Loop 49
TYLER — Look for a toll rate hike on Loop 49 starting the first of the year. According to Everett Owen, Interim Executive Director of the North East Texas Regional Mobility Authority, the increases are not new. It had previously been decided that the rate adjustments would be incremental to bring Tyler closer to the state average. The funds are used to maintain and expand the toll road.
