NACOGDOCHES (AP) – An East Texas man has been charged with murder after authorities say he stabbed his 53-year-old father several times and slashed his throat. The Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday that Blake Foxworth, 30, had been charged with murder after George Foxworth died Friday at a hospital. The sheriff’s office said that on Thursday, Blake Foxworth had called 911 to say he had stabbed his father during an argument. When deputies arrived at the Nacogdoches home the two shared, they found the father on the couch and covered in blood.
TYLER — A Tyler man is accused of planting a camera in the bathroom at his business and recording a woman while she was changing. According to an arrest warrant obtained by our news partner KETK, 46-year-old Michael Blundell was arrested on Oct. 22 and charged with invasive recording. He was an employer at a medical site and had recruited a new potential worker. On Oct. 17, she went into the bathroom to change into scrubs. After showing them to Blundell, the victim went back into the bathroom to change back into her pants. KILGORE — A man has been charged with murder after a car chase following a robbery in Kilgore at approximately 2:20 p.m. Wednesday. According to our news partner KETK, the incident ended with a juvenile male being shot and killed. Four juveniles were also arrested. According to the Kilgore Police Department, two cars were shooting at each other during the chase. Police said that the crime scene started on Harris and spanned 11 blocks to Sunset Lane. KILGORE — Authorities are investigating after a driver was injured during an apparent shooting that occurred in Kilgore Wednesday afternoon causing the driver to crash. According to our news partner KETK, the crime scene spanned 11 blocks and multiple agencies of law enforcement were involved in assisting Kilgore PD. All suspects involved are in custody. Officers apprehended four juveniles and an adult male. The victim was transported from the crime scene by ambulance and later flown to a nearby hospital.
TYLER — A woman accused of smuggling two dozen people has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Tyler. According to our news partner KETK, Maria Lopez, 46, was indicted Thursday, October 21 on three counts of “transporting certain aliens for commercial advantage or private financial gain.†Back on October 4, a Suburban was pulled over in the middle of the night by Cherokee County Sheriff deputies near Rusk. KILGORE — One man has been hospitalized after a shooting at a Kilgore apartment complex late Sunday night. According to our news partner KETK, police were called to Lakewood Manor Apartments where they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. His condition is unknown. Investigators said in a brief statement that another man is “currently detained for questioning by detectives.†Officers say that all residents are safe and there is no ongoing threat.
ANGELINA COUNTY — A Tyler man was arrested on Saturday after holding a woman against her will and leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase from Bullard to Lufkin. According to our news partner KETK, Christopher Reshode Holmes, 30, was detained around 12:25 a.m. on Saturday around Loop 287 at MLK Drive in Lufkin. He was charged with evading arrest or detention- vehicle, unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. HENDERSON COUNTY — After a Mesquite man was arrested by police looking for a missing Henderson County girl, it was discovered he was also wanted on a child indecency charge in Forney. Wallace Chalmers was arrested in Kaufman County Wednesday in the company of the 15-year-old whose mother had reported her missing earlier that morning. While booking Chalmers, Henderson County Deputies learned that Forney Police were also looking for him on the un-related child indecency charge. Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse says, “This is one of those really good days. The deputies and all of us in the sheriff’s office are grateful this incident was resolved quickly by our entire team.”
LONGVIEW – Longview ISD is waiting for County Court at Law 2 Judge Vincent Dulweber, to make his final ruling after the Texas Attorney General sued the district for defying Governor Greg Abbott’s executive order against mask mandates. TYLER — The Chapel Hill ISD school board decided to lift their mask mandate after COVID-19 cases have decreased. According to our news partner KETK, the new order will be effective starting on Oct. 19. Administrators said they will continue to track COVID-19 cases in the district. Chapel Hill first issued their temporary mask mandate on Aug. 31.
TYLER — All lanes of Tyler’s Old Jacksonville Highway are now open at Loop 323 after a Monday morning crash. Four vehicles including a cement truck were involved, with the cement truck overturning. There was fluid, including cement, in the roadway. There is no report of any injuries.
ATHENS — A former Athens ISD teacher arrested for allegedly having an improper relationship with a student was ordered by a judge to not have contact with the student or use social media. According to our news partner KETK, 392nd District Court Judge R. Scott McKee established Kirkland’s bond conditions. Kaitlynn Bethany Kirkland, 25, of Athens, was arrested on July 17, 2020 and charged with having an improper relationship with a student and tampering with evidence. CHEROKEE COUNTY — A father and son from Alto were arrested and charged with multiple counts of sexual assault of a child on Oct. 13. According to our news partner KETK, a multi-agency investigation lead to the arrest of Theodore Smith, 86, and James Smith, 62. In mid-March of this year, deputies from the Sacramento County California Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from a person who reportedly discovered hundreds on images containing child pornography and children involved in sex acts. LONGVIEW — Gregg County Precinct 2 Constable William “Billy†Mayo Fort was arrested early Tuesday morning on a DWI charge. According to our news partner KETK, a post by Longview PD said that Fort was inside a Gregg County Constable car at the time of his arrest and was allegedly “swerving in and out of all lanes… almost striking another vehicle.†He pulled into a Brookshire’s parking lot on Gilmer Road and was captured. He admitted to taking a Xanax and muscle relaxer. He then failed three sobriety tests. This is the second East Texas constable to face legal trouble this year. Former Pct. 2 Smith County Constable Josh Black was convicted of official oppression last month. A jury found Black guilty of offering sexual favors in exchange for free or discounted supervised visitation services to a woman. Black was sentenced to six months in jail.
TYLER — Smith County maintenance crews will be assisting Union Pacific in railroad crossing repairs on NNE Loop 323 in Tyler, between American Legion Rd. and US 271 on Tuesday, October 12. The road is scheduled to be closed to all traffic from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Drivers heading north on US 271 are encouraged to use detours and avoid this area. The road should be reopened on Wednesday morning for normal use.
