On Wednesday, Dr. Tom Cummins told KTBB, &#8220;I think we are turning the corner. I would encourage people that have not been to please do so whenever they are eligible. You can go through us, NET Health, through their clinics, wherever they can get a vaccine,please do so. In the meantime, continue to wear your mask in-spite of the mask mandate, keep your distance, keep your hands clean, if we can do that and really make a push on the vaccine, we are going to get back to a sense of normalcy.&#8221;<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The division chief medical officer for UT Health East Texas went on to say,&#8221;Fully vaccinated people can all be in smaller group settings, family, work, etc&#8230;without masking safely. You can even be with members of one household that haven&#8217;t been vaccinated, if your whole household has been. So now, grandparents can go see grand kids because the grand kids will not have been vaccinated, but they can now go to those homes safely and see their children and grandchildren.&#8221; More than 19,500 of those were first doses, with the remainder being second-dose vaccines, which occur three to four weeks after the first dose.
