\"\"TYLER — Not only has the coronavirus pandemic taken it’s toll physically, but even more so financially. However, the city of Tyler is ahead of the field, with help from the CARES Act. Mayor Martin Heines said, “Our airport will be continue to provide more than 150,000 passengers with air travel. Our transit department will be the recipients of at least four new buses and will be able to provide 150,000 fixed route trips and 60,000 para-transit trips in the coming year to serve residents. Our neighborhood service team will be able to provide projects. First responders and all employees providing critical direct services to residents will continue.”<\/p>\n

“Tyler has always been fiscally conservative. We have no general obligation debt. We pay cash from our half-cent sales tax fund to build our roads, police stations, fire stations, roads and more.” Mayor Heines went on to say, “We don’t keep a large reserve and every dollar we reecieve goes back into programs and services for our citizens. Without the cares act funding, the city and those we serve would see critical services severely impaired.” The city of Tyler will receive more than $6 million in reimbursement expenses. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
