On Thursday Superintendent Dr. Marty Crawford told KTBB, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Mr. Sterling was such a gentleman, and I mean that in every aspect of the word. He was a calm, quiet, so revered in Tyler ISD&#8230;&#8221;His spirit of service will endure, well past this moment of grief.&#8221; Sterling was elected to the board last May and had a long-standing career in education.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Crawford continued, &#8220;He was impactful, he had a very steady hand. We have had success the last six or seven years, and he came on board as a new trustee and just slid on in and was able to be a calm presence just like the other six trustees.&#8221; There was no immediate word on memorial arrangements.
