State District Judge David Brabham  found Ellen Virginia Hicks, 34, guilty of criminal negligent homicide. He sentenced her on Thursday to 5 years probation. The Department of Public Safety says Hicks was driving her car above the speed limit the morning of November 30, 2015, when she became distracted by a dog in her car. Her car then crossed into the opposite lane of traffic and hit a car nearly head-on.
