It started around 8:45 Monday morning when a state trooper tried to pull over a black  Mercedes Benz in northeastern Smith County. The speeding vehicle lead officers on a chase at speeds topping 100 miles an hour. The chase ended in Kilgore, off State Highway 135, when the driver and his passenger split up, and fled on foot.
