Officer David Swain was hired by the department in April 1975. He is retiring on Sunday. He currently holds the most seniority as a patrol officer.  He has served under the direction of six Tyler police chiefs.  In 2007, he chose to be transferred to the Tyler Pounds Regional Airport as a Security Officer.  This was a position  created after 9\/11 to assist the TSA officers with screening of passengers and securing the Airport terminal and grounds.
