William George Davis, 34, remained jailed Thursday in Smith County on $2 million bond, charged in the death of Christopher Greenaway, 47, and with causing at least two other patients to enter vegetative states at a Tyler hospital. Seven patients were reported as experiencing \u00e2\u20ac\u0153profound and unexplainable incidents resembling stroke-like symptoms\u00e2\u20ac\u009d after being visited by Davis, according to a warrant for his arrest issued this week.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The patients, none of whom were assigned to Davis, all were recovering from surgeries at the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at Christus Mother Frances Peaches and Louis Owen Heart Hospital in Tyler between June 2017 and January. The hospital removed Davis from patient care Jan. 25, the same day they \u00e2\u20ac\u0153identified an unusual and unexplained patient outcome in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d according to a statement from the health care system. He was fired in February. This past month, the Texas Board of Nursing suspended his license.<\/p>\n<p>Davis was employed at the hospital from 2013 until February. Prior to that, he was a nurse at Good Shepherd, now Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center, from 2011 to 2013, according to public information officer Will Knous.
