Trooper Damon Allen had been with DPS for more than 15 years. He was remembered during the service for his dedication to holding &#8220;the thin blue line.&#8221;  Among the terms used to describe Allen were &#8220;a hero,&#8221; &#8220;a class act,&#8221; &#8220;a family man&#8221; &#8212; and &#8220;a goofball.&#8221;  32-year-old Dabrett Black of Lindale is held in the killing, charged with capital murder of a peace officer.
