Sheriff Larry Smith says Child Protective Services reported the incident shortly before midnight August 27. Deputies were told a 15-month-old had been admitted to a local hospital with severe injuries that were consistent with abuse. The child was later transferred to a Dallas hospital. Following an investigation, authorities this past week arrested 26-year-old Terral Deshon Carter for injury to a child\/serious bodily injury, a first degree felony; and 24-year-old Taylor Nicole Skinner for injury to a child by omission, a state jail felony.
