In response to the significant damage, the Governor has  issued a Disaster Declaration for Henderson, Van Zandt, and Rains counties. &#8220;The recent severe weather across our state has had a devastating impact on the people of East Texas,&#8221; said Governor Abbott. &#8220;Texans by their very nature are resilient, and I am confident we will remain steadfast in our response to this disaster. I ask that everyone keep those impacted in your prayers as we come together to rebuild in the aftermath of these storms.&#8221;<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Eight confirmed tornadoes impacted Northeast Texas on the afternoon and evening of April 29. The City of Canton, in Van Zandt County, sustained extensive damage from two large, long-track tornadoes in and around the city. The Texas State Operations Center has increased to a Level 1 Activation (Maximum Readiness \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Emergency Conditions) to support local government requests for state assistance.
