Overall Part One crimes &#8212; offenses deemed the most serious in nature &#8212; are down 1.26%. Part One violent crimes (homicides, sexual assault, robbery, and aggravated assault) are up 18.67% from last year.  But the Part One violent crime number is lower than it was in 2012 and 2013. Part One property crimes (burglary, theft, auto theft) are down 3.08%. Part Two crimes are up 7.61% but also show a decrease from 2012 and 2013.  The statistics indicate crime rates over the past five calendar years.<!--more-->  <\/p>\n<p>According to a news release, Police Chief Jimmy Toler is very proud of his troops as they work to identify and address crime. Police say this is most evident in officers&#8217; efforts to address robberies, gambling, illegal drug violations, and driving under the influence (DUI).
