Union Pacific spokesman Jeff DeGraff said the derailment happened about 6 p.m. Wednesday in Malakoff, a town of about 2,300 residents 70 miles southeast of Dallas. DeGraff said the derailment involved box, hopper, tanker and other freight cars. DeGraff said there were no injuries.
