At a Tuesday afternoon news conference, Smith County Sheriff Larry Smith announced 13 state arrest warrants have been issued by 114th State District Judge Christi Kennedy. Only three of the suspects have been located and arrested. The group is said to be responsible for fifteen marijuana cultivation sites around East Texas. The organization is said to be linked to the Los Zetas Cartel. From July 2015 to last November, around 77,000 individual marijuana plants were seized from the sites. The value of the plants have been estimated at over $101 million.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ktbb.com\/post\/wp-content\/media\/2017\/03\/Eduardo-Ramirez-Pineda.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ktbb.com\/post\/wp-content\/media\/2017\/03\/Eduardo-Ramirez-Pineda.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"81\" height=\"101\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-594181\" \/><\/a>Among those still at large is Eduardo Ramirez Pineda who is identified as a leader within the local drug trafficking organization and was overseeing the daily operations of the 15 sites. Also identified as a suspect, who is still being sought, is Benito Duarte Ramirez. The recommended bonds on the suspects was placed at $200,000 each excluding Pineda and Ramirez whose bonds are recommended at $400,000.
