The terms, subject to Texas Senate confirmation, are effective February 1 and are set to expire February 1, 2023. Eltife, a longtime Tyler civic leader, recently stepped down as a Texas senator.  He&#8217;d previously served as a Tyler mayor and city councilmember. In a news release, Eltife said he&#8217;s honored by the appointment and will work hard to make sure tax dollars are spent wisely and transparently.
