KETK and the Longview News-Journal report Marcus Demois Whitaker, 37, pleaded guilty Friday in the 124th District Court in Gregg County. A sentencing hearing took place Wednesday. Whitaker will be eligible for parole after having served half of his sentence.<!--more-->   <\/p>\n<p>Jackson died Dec. 28, 2014, in the front yard of his Rogers Street home. Jackson\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s mother told police a man identifying himself as Marcus had come to the door and asked to speak with Jackson. They went outside, and Jackson\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s mother heard gunshots ring out right after she closed the door.
