It is replacing the city&#8217;s Parks and Recreation Department. The new department that will be assuming its duties is called Community Services Department. Longtime Palestine Police Officer Patsy Smith, who is currently a Code Enforcement Officer, will become a reserve officer in order to lead Community Services. New City Manager Mike Alexander said the new department will encompass many of the responsibilities of the former Parks and Recreation department. It will also house the Code Enforcement division.
