The emergency notification system, for the East Texas region, is a part of a public safety program. Funded by a Homeland Security grant, it is a telephone communication service. It allows the county and city Emergency Management Coordinators to quickly notify residents about emergency situations. It could be anything from severe weather to bomb threats or hostage situations. The network covers 13 of the ETCOG&#8217;s 14 counties.
