In East Texas, the jobless rate for Tyler and Longview dipped slightly. The Texas unemployment rate last month was 4.8%. That&#8217;s up slightly from the August figure. It reflects 4 straight months of higher jobless rates in the state. Tyler&#8217;s unemployment rate for September was 5% and Longview&#8217;s was 6.7%. Both figures are slightly lower than the August numbers but higher than September of last year.
