Long has been with the Tyler Police Department since February, 1994. He has worked in numerous departments during his police career. He was promoted to  Sergeant in December 1999. In August, 2002, he was promoted to Lieutenant. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>During his years of service with the department, he has had the opportunity to work within the Patrol, Investigations, Tactical and Administrative divisions of the department.  Prior to promoting, he worked as a Patrol Officer, Bicycle Patrol Officer, and as a District Crimes Investigator.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ktbb.com\/post\/wp-content\/media\/2016\/10\/Jason-Burton.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ktbb.com\/post\/wp-content\/media\/2016\/10\/Jason-Burton-150x150.jpeg\" alt=\"jason-burton\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-544423\" \/><\/a>Burton began his career with the Tyler Police Department in July of 2002.  During his years of service he has had the opportunity to work within the Patrol and Investigations\/Tactical divisions of the department. Prior to promoting to Sergeant in 2008, he worked as a Patrol Officer and a Bicycle Officer.<\/p>\n<p>As an officer, he received a Meritorious Conduct award in 2006 as a part of the PD response when a DPS Trooper had been shot and the suspects were spotted in Tyler. <\/p>\n<p>As a supervisor, Burton worked with personnel on all three patrols shifts as well as a 2016 transfer to the Youth Crimes Division.<\/p>\n<p>Burton served on the Special Weapons and Tactics Team for several years and is a department firearms instructor.
