Attorney General Ken Paxton says the school district violated state law and the Texas Constitution when it repealed the district\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s local option homestead exemption. According to Paxton, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Local governments cannot be allowed to simply ignore laws that they do not like.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d The Kilgore school board voted June 29th to eliminate the school district\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s local optional 20% homestead exemption.
