The case was formally dismissed today by Judge Michael Schneider. The Tyler school board voted in May to seek the lifting the federal desegregation order. The district sought unitary status, which is achieved when no racial discrimination involving faculty, staff, student assignment, facilities transportation and extracurricular activities exists in the district. School district attorney John Hardy previously said the district has worked very hard to attempt to meet the requirements in an effort to have the order lifted.
