According to DPS Trooper Jean Dark, preliminary investigation revealed that a pickup was traveling southbound in the outside lane of travel at an unsafe speed for the wet road conditions, lost control, and skidded off the roadway to the right.  The vehicle struck several trees with its left side.  The driver, 25-year-old Marco Arcos-Martinez, was pronounced dead at the scene.
