The accident occurred on U.S. Highway 271 just north of Interstate Highway 20. Dead at the scene was Gregory Keith Whitmill, 39 of Tyler. The Department of Public Safety says he was killed when his  van ran a red light and hit an  international truck hauling gas tanks as it was making a left turn from the interstate\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s frontage road onto Highway 271.
