\"Henderson<\/a>ATHENS – A Henderson County couple, David and Cindi Wood, are trying a different approach to selling their home. It’s a 300 word essay contest. And the winning entry will get the 3-bed room home on 25 acres about three miles north of Athens. Cindi says they love the property, but they need to live closer to a U.S. Veteran’s medical facility for her husband’s future medical care. This special need has inspired them to seek an alternative way to sell the home and property.<\/p>\n

To make it work, they need 7,000 entries. Contestants are asked to write on 8.5″ x 11″ sheets of paper a 300-word essay on one of two topics. Topics for the contest are: 1) If you could restore one broken relationship, which would it be and why? or, 2) What is the biggest problem in America and how would you fix it, if you could? The couple will read the essays and narrow them down to 20 by September 1st. The finalists will then be turned over to three local judges, who will select the winner. Two are English teachers from Athens Christian Preparatory Academy and the editor of the Athens Daily Review. <\/p>\n
