The term of Sheriff Nutt, who did not seek re-election, ends at the end of the year. But he has submitted his resignation, effective May 23rd. Besides considering accepting the sheriff&#8217;s resignation, Henderson County Commissioners will also consider appointing someone to fill out his term, starting June 1st. Sheriff&#8217;s Nutt has been in law enforcement near 50 years. He became a state trooper in 1969 and a Texas Ranger in 1979, a position he held for nearly 15 years.
