Tiede&#8217;s lawyer Jodi Cole says she will tell the court Marjorie Nugent used Tiede to launder money, something not previously revealed.  Tiede was a Carthage funeral director who befriended Nugent, 40 years his senior at her husband&#8217;s funeral.  He then spent her money freely, shot her, and hid her body in a freezer for nine months.  Tiede&#8217;s case could have been written for Hollywood, and when it was, the resulting attention got him out of a life sentence.
