According to KETK, Riley McPherson of Gilmer died when his van struck the side of a semi-tractor trailer that was blocking all four lanes of the highway. Bond was set at $10,000 for the truck driver, Eric Wayne Jefferson. Jefferson, who was unhurt, was attempting to back the semitrailer, loaded with pipe, into a private drive when the southbound van struck the back left axle area.
