\"TxDot\"<\/a>TYLER \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Here’s a look at work planned in the district during the Week of Feb. 1. These schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, equipment failure or other unforeseen issues.<\/p>\n

Work in Gladewater at the intersection of US 271\/US 80 continues Monday requiring a closure on US 80. The crew will then move to Mile Marker 773 on US 80 between Gladewater and White Oak performing concrete repairs for the rest of the week. This work requires closing the eastbound, outside lane. Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes. Work will be conducted daily and requires overnight lane closures until the work is complete. If you must travel through the area, please allow extra time to reach your destinations. <\/p>\n

ANDERSON COUNTY \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Palestine crews will receiving seal rock at the intersection of SH 155 and FM 321 which requires closing the outside southbound lane. Pay attention to equipment at the location and traffic control devices in place to help you through the work zone. Also, US 287N will be down to one lane from just north of Cayuga to the Trinity River. Use caution and watch for flaggers directing traffic.<\/p>\n

Anderson County construction projects updates:<\/p>\n

US 79 New Lane Construction Project<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Limits: 1.6 miles southwest of Loop 256 in Palestine south to .4 mile southwest of FM 645<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Contractor: Longview Bridge and Road, Ltd., of Longview.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Cost: $42.7 million<\/p>\n

Work continues to progress with the contractor laying hot mix on the south end of this US 79 job. Cleanup concrete work continues in the southbound lanes along with other activities in the curb and gutter section, and paving on FM 645. Sanderson Blvd. remains closed with traffic detoured to Florence Street. Expect lane closures.<\/p>\n

SH 19 Widening<\/p>\n

Limits: 3.6 miles north of FM 837 (Henderson Co. line) south to .4 mile north of FM 321 at Montalba<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Contractor: Big Creek Construction of Hewitt<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Cost: $12.5 million<\/p>\n

No work is currently being conducted on this project to widen SH 19.<\/p>\n

Off-System Bridge Replacement Project<\/p>\n

Limits: County Road (CR) 471 at Box Creek and County Road (CR) 4801 at Indian Creek
\n Contractor: Longview Bridge and Road, Ltd., of Longview
\n Cost: $817,412.15<\/p>\n

CR 471 at Box Creek is closed to through traffic as a new bridge is built. Completion is set for this month.<\/p>\n

CR 4801 at Indian Creek is also closed to through traffic. A detour is in place as work to build the new bridge continues. Beams are being set and the slab to poured Monday, weather permitting.<\/p>\n

CHEROKEE COUNTY \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Crews in Jacksonville and Rusk will be cleaning cross structures around the county and receiving material. Lane closures are possible with flaggers providing traffic control. <\/p>\n

Cherokee County construction projects updates:<\/p>\n

FM 22 and FM 23 Widening Project<\/p>\n

Limits: From US 69 south of Jacksonville going SW to 1.5 miles west of FM 768 (Gallatin area); FM 23 from FM 343 to FM 1857
\n Contractor: Madden Contracting Company, LLC
\n Cost: $8.5 million<\/p>\n

Expect lane closures on FM 22 as work to widen the roadway continues. It could be completed this week. No work is scheduled for FM 23. These are safety projects designed to widen the roadways from 20\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 to 24\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 along a 4.2-mile section.<\/p>\n

US 69 Widening and Resurfacing<\/p>\n

Limits: From Loop 456 in Jacksonville going south to just north of Loop 62 in Rusk
\n Contractor: Madden Contracting Company, LLC
\n Cost: $11.5 million<\/p>\n

No work is planned for this week. The project is adding 2\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 edge treatment and resurfacing the roadway.<\/p>\n

US 69 Widening and Resurfacing<\/p>\n

Limits: From 0.028 mile south of FM 343 in Rusk southward to just north of SH 21 in Alto
\n Contractor: Madden Contracting Company, LLC
\n Cost: $9.7 million<\/p>\n

Expect lane closures as the contractor constructs the subgrade for the turn lanes on this widening and resurfacing job, weather permitting.<\/p>\n

GREGG COUNTY \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Longview crews will be conducting routine maintenance activities such as sweeping and ditch work during the week. Little to no impact on traffic is expected.<\/p>\n

Gregg County construction projects updates:<\/p>\n

FM 2275 George Richey Extension (Segments II & III)<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Limits: McCann Road to US 259<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Contractor: East Texas Bridge, Inc.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Cost: $12.8 million<\/p>\n

Paving operations continue along with construction of curb and gutter, and sidewalk, between US 259 and McCann Road. This project is constructing a new roadway from McCann Road to US 259. Clearing between Judson and Airline roads continues with excavation, embankment, bridge construction, subgrade treatment, storm drain and other work between McCann and Judson roads. This is a new location job requiring motorists to use other routes to get around Airline Road which is closed through March 2016.<\/p>\n

FM 449<\/p>\n

Limits: US 259 to FM 2751
\n Contractor: Madden Contracting Company, LLC<\/p>\n

No work will occur this week on the project to widen the road two feet on each side.<\/p>\n

Loop 281 at FM 2087 Overpass<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Limits: SH 31 to approximately one mile south of SH 31<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Contractor: Longview Bridge and Road, Ltd., of Longview.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Cost: $13.2 million<\/p>\n

This project to build a new overpass is in Phase III of construction with traffic moved off the existing loop onto the detours. Concrete work on the bridge approaches is ongoing. Expect delays during the peak evening hours. Caution advised in detour areas.<\/p>\n

SH 42<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Limits: From SH 31 north to I-20<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Contractor: Reynolds & Kay, Ltd. <\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Cost: $3.7 million<\/p>\n

The contractor is constructing curb inlets on this project to construct a left turn lane at Hillcrest Road. Expect lane closures and brief delays with flaggers directing traffic. Completion expected soon.<\/p>\n

I-20 PFC Project<\/p>\n

Limits: SH 31E to the Harrison County line
\n Contractor: Madden Contracting Company, LLC
\n Cost: $5.6 million<\/p>\n

Motorists should expect daytime closures and delays in the eastbound and westbound lanes as the contractor makes repairs to bridge joints between the Sabine River and SH 31. A mobile striping unit will also be active, placing lane lines and centerlines. Expect delays! Use alternate routes when possible.<\/p>\n

The project consists of applying a porous friction course (PFC) surface overlay, shoulder texturing, and pavement markings as well as work on the I-20 on ramps. Porous friction courses (PFC) consist of placing hot mix asphalt mixtures at the surface of a pavement structure in a thin layer to produce benefits for the traveling public such as safety, economy and the environment.<\/p>\n

SH 31 Landscape Project<\/p>\n

Limits: 0.3 miles north of FM 2205 (Grace Creek) to 0.2 miles south of U.S. 80 (Cotton) in Longview
\n Contractor: South Texas Illuminations, LLC
\n Cost: $281,249.70<\/p>\n

The contractor is installing a gate opener and running power supply on this project which comes as a result of the city winning one of 10 Governor\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Community Achievement Awards presented by Keep Texas Beautiful in partnership with TxDOT which allocates $2,000,000 a year as landscape incentives to competing communities based on population and efforts in litter prevention and cleanup, public awareness, beautification and property improvement, solid waste management, illegal dumping and enforcement, and education. No traffic impacts.<\/p>\n

Landscaping Projects<\/p>\n

Limits: Intersection of SH 31 at SH 42
\n Limits: Intersections of I-20 at Estes Parkway; and I-20 at Eastman Road
\n Contractor: South Texas Illuminations, LLC
\n Cost: $400,000.00<\/p>\n

No work is scheduled for this landscaping project to enhance various intersections throughout Gregg and Rusk counties. Crews are working at the intersections of SH 42 and SH 31, and I-20, Estes Parkway and Eastman Road. The majority of the work is outside the travel lane in the median and should have little impact on traffic. Caution advised as construction vehicles enter and leave the project sites.<\/p>\n

HENDERSON COUNTY \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Athens crews will address maintenance around culverts on various roadways including, SH 31E in the Murchison area; FM 2494 near FM 753; and on SH 198 near FM 316. Crews will also be doing base repair work on FM 2709. Expect lane closures with flaggers conducting traffic control.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, FM 317 in Athens remains closed with traffic detoured due to damage the roadway sustained during stormy weather conditions last spring. A washout occurred three miles east of SH 31. The plans for the permanent repair project are complete and will go out for bids in February with construction expected to start in April. Repairs should take about two months to complete, weather permitting. This job is being coordinated with the Corp of Engineers and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).<\/p>\n

Henderson County construction projects updates:<\/p>\n

SH 31 Repair Project<\/p>\n

Limits: .09 miles west of FM 317 eastward to .34 miles west of FM 773
\n Contractor: Big Creek Construction, Ltd., of Hewitt
\n Cost: $3.6 million<\/p>\n

The contractor is addressing seeding and vegetation at this time. The project consists of milling the existing surface and placing a new overlay on the roadway. This job is expected to be completed soon.<\/p>\n

US 175 Widening Project (Phase I)<\/p>\n

Limits: 0.1 miles southeast of FM 804 near Baxter southeast to 1.1 miles east of Loop 60E at Larue
\n Contractor: A.L. Helmcamp, Inc. and Big Creek Construction
\n Cost: $39.2 million<\/p>\n

The project expands US 175 from two lanes to a four-lane divided with a depressed median. A traffic switch now has eastbound motorists driving on the new detour. Drivers should expect one lane carrying two-way traffic throughout the project limits as well as occasional day time lane closures. Drivers on adjacent county roads and FM 804 should anticipate a change in traffic flow due to the detour now requiring two-way traffic on US 175. Dirt and drainage work around Loop 60E in Larue to near Baxter is ongoing. The speed limit in the construction zone has been set at 55 mph so slow down because traffic fines double when workers are present. Phase I construction started April 6, 2015 and has an anticipated completion date in November 2018.<\/p>\n

US 175 Widening Project (Phase II)<\/p>\n

Limits: 1.1 miles east of Loop 60B to 0.85 mile east of FM 315
\n Contractor: Sundt Construction, Inc., of San Antonio
\n Cost: $37.8 million<\/p>\n

The contractor has started dirt work around FM 315 south of Poynor as construction continues on this Phase II project to expand US 175 from two lanes to a four-lane divided with a depressed median. Drainage work also is ongoing. Drivers should anticipate two-way traffic throughout the project limits which stretch 3.4 miles ending just east of FM 315 in Poynor. The speed limit has been set at 55 mph. A portion of this phase will be built on new location around the south side of Poynor. This like Phase I, is a mobility project to add capacity and improve safety, and includes adding one lane in each direction. It is a two-year project.<\/p>\n

FM 315\/FM 1616 Widening Project<\/p>\n

Limits: From FM 314S to CS End at County Road 4325, 4224, etc.
\n Contractor: Big Creek Construction, LTD, of Hewitt, Texas
\n Cost: $3.07 million<\/p>\n

FM 315 has been widened and awaiting seal coat season. The contractor is installing new driveway pipe on FM 1616. Drivers should anticipate one-way traffic throughout the project limits with daily lane closures. Completion expected in summer 2016.<\/p>\n

FM 316 Widening Project<\/p>\n

Limits: From FM 1256 south to FM 3080
\n Contractor: Big Creek Construction, Ltd., of Hewitt<\/p>\n

No work is scheduled this week on the widening project.<\/p>\n

Off-System Bridge Replacement Project<\/p>\n

Limits: Cardinal Drive at Little Duncan Creek in Murchison
\n Contractor: Hartbeat Construction of Tyler
\n Cost: $314,919.44<\/p>\n

Cardinal Drive is closed to through traffic as a new bridge is built. Completion anticipated in February.<\/p>\n

RUSK COUNTY \u00e2\u20ac\u201c In Rusk County, crews will be conducting base repair work on FM 3310 between US 259 and US 79. Expect the roadway to be reduced to one travel lane carrying two-way traffic. Ditch work also continues on FM 840 in Brachfield. Expect lane closures with traffic control provided by flaggers. <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, an emergency contract is underway to repair the box culvert on FM 838 at Bowles Creek between New London and Arp, about a mile from the intersection of SH 323. Motorists can expect alternating closures of the eastbound and westbound lanes during this work. Look for flaggers to help you navigate through the work zone. It should take the contractor, Stateline Construction, about 30 days to complete the repairs which were necessitated by wet conditions that eroded the culvert.<\/p>\n

Rusk County construction projects updates:<\/p>\n

US 259 South Project <\/p>\n

Limits: Southbound lanes from 0.4 miles S of US 79 in Henderson south to 0.4 miles N of FM 1798<\/p>\n

Contractor: Madden Contracting Company, LLC
\n Cost: $5.7 million <\/p>\n

This 10.13-mile project consists of base repairs, mill and inlay of asphalt surface, PFC overlay, and pavement markings. The contractor will be repairing base failures in the southbound lanes. Expect lane closures and delays in the construction work zone. Caution advised!<\/p>\n

US 79 South Project<\/p>\n

Limits: From Loop 571 in Henderson going southwest for 3.0 miles to FM 839
\n Contractor: Drewery Construction Co., Inc.
\n Cost: $6.7 million <\/p>\n

Work to widen the structures is underway on this project consisting of widening the existing paving and adding a center left turn lane. The contractor will also extend drainage structures and place embankment on widened roadway edges. When completed, the road will have a new asphalt surface. Expect delays!<\/p>\n

FM 3135<\/p>\n

Limits: County Road 222 to County Road 262
\n Contractor: Madden Contracting Company, LLC<\/p>\n

No work planned on this project consisting of widening the road and adding shoulders.<\/p>\n

FM 95<\/p>\n

Limits: FM 1798 to SH 315
\n Contractor: Madden Contracting Company, LLC<\/p>\n

No work scheduled for this project consisting of widening the road and adding shoulders.<\/p>\n

Landscaping Projects<\/p>\n

Limits: SH 64 and US 79
\n Contractor: South Texas Illuminations, LLC
\n Cost: $400,000.00 <\/p>\n

No work scheduled on this landscaping project to enhance various locations in Rusk County (in conjunction with the contract in Gregg County.) Crews are working on SH 64 and Loop 571. The majority of the work is outside the travel lane in the median and should have little impact on traffic. The traveling public should be cautious of construction vehicles entering and leaving the project sites.<\/p>\n

SMITH COUNTY \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Tyler Maintenance crews plan to conduct asphalt mill and inlay work on SH 31E about a mile east of Loop 323 on Monday. The rest of the week they will be maintaining ditches around the county. Flaggers will be in place to direct traffic through the work zones. Expect lane closures.<\/p>\n

Smith County construction projects updates:<\/p>\n

FM 1253 Widening Project<\/p>\n

Limits: From County Road 462 south, 1.3 miles north of FM 857 south to FM 1805; FM 1804 from Wood County line to US 69; FM 2015 from CR 313 to FM 16
\n Contractor: Longview Bridge and Road, Ltd., of Longview
\n Cost: $7.5 million<\/p>\n

Drainage work continues on FM 2015 so expect lane closures. No work is scheduled for the FM 1253 or FM 1804 projects. This contract consists of widening, sealing and resurfacing all three roadways.<\/p>\n

Loop 323 West Widening<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Limits: Tyler\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s West Loop and SH 31<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Contractor: Longview Bridge and Road, Ltd., of Longview<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Cost: $12 million<\/p>\n

Work on the retaining wall continues as well as grading and cement treating activities. The city of Tyler will also be working on sewer adjustments during the week. The temporary detours remain in place. Motorists are encouraged to AVOID making left turns from the loop within the project limits of this work zone. Caution advised as crews and heavy equipment are working close to the travel lanes which have been altered for the project. Alternate routes are encouraged to avoid delays.<\/p>\n

The project includes widening Loop 323 from SH 31 to Shaw Street. The speed limit on Loop 323 in the work zone has been reduced to 45 mph from SH 64 to Shaw Street. Construction is in full swing with an expected completion date in early 2016. <\/p>\n

Loop 323 Northeast Project<\/p>\n

Limits: From American Legion Road (@ the Loop 323 Extension to US 271) south to Commerce St.
\n Contractor: Reynolds and Kay, LTD.
\n Cost: $3.4 million<\/p>\n

Motorists can expect daily shoulder closures as the contractor continues clean-up activities on this portion of Loop 323. The project includes culvert extensions, base repair, level-up and placing an overlay. Completion expected later this winter.<\/p>\n

SH 31E Widening Project<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Limits: From FM 757 to FM 2012<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Contractor: Reynolds & Kay, LTD<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Cost: $7.8 million<\/p>\n

Erosion control work continues. Expect shoulder closures on this project designed to add passing lanes for multiple sections of roadway in both the eastbound and westbound directions. Once the widening is complete, a seal coat and final surface will be applied. A daily construction speed limit of 60 mph is in place when work is being performed on this 18-month job.<\/p>\n

SH 31E Widening Project<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Limits: From FM 850 to FM 757<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Contractor: East Texas Bridge, Inc.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Cost: $3.4 million<\/p>\n

Final inspection work continues for this project to widen SH 31 east of Tyler by building passing lanes for multiple sections of the roadway in both directions. The new passing lanes are open to traffic.<\/p>\n

SH 64<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Limits: from Chapel Hill to Arp<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Contractor: Drewery Construction of Nacogdoches<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Cost: $3.9 million<\/p>\n

Expect lane closures as crews conduct clean-up activities on this project to add passing lanes between FM 2607 and Arp. Caution advised when traveling through this work zone.<\/p>\n

VAN ZANDT COUNTY \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Canton crews plan to continue overlay and edge work on FM 1861 between SH 19 and FM 316. A second crew will be performing edge work on FM 47 between SH 198 and FM 3227. Expect lane closures with flaggers directing traffic through the work zone.<\/p>\n

Van Zandt County construction projects updates:<\/p>\n

SH 64 Widening Project<\/p>\n

Limits: From FM 858 near Ben Wheeler to FM 314
\n Contractor: A.L. Helmcamp, Inc., of Buffalo
\n Cost: $7.4 million<\/p>\n

The contractor continues remaining work which includes applying permanent striping, driveway paving, and conducting drainage activities. The newly added passing lanes are open to traffic and the project is expected to be completed in March. The project will improve safety and mobility for traffic on SH 64. <\/p>\n

SH 198 Widening Project<\/p>\n

Limits: from SH 243 in Canton southwest to 0.4 miles northeast of FM 316 near Phalba
\n Contractor: Big Creek Construction, Ltd., of Waco
\n Cost: $5 million <\/p>\n

Work to widen the cross structures and the road continues northbound. Expect lane closures.<\/p>\n

FM 314 Widening Project<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Limits: from I-20 to the Van Zandt\/Henderson County line<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Contractor: A.L. Helmcamp, Inc., of Buffalo<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Cost: $11.9 million<\/p>\n

No lane closures are expected as the contractor continues erosion control activities south of Edom.<\/p>\n

FM 279 Resurfacing Project<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Limits: from Ben Wheeler to Edom<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 Contractor: APAC – Texas<\/p>\n

Expect lane closures as the contractor performs crack seal work and resurfaces this roadway.<\/p>\n

WOOD COUNTY \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Mineola crews will continue ditch maintenance on FM 1804, FM 852 about four miles north of FM 2088, and on FM 3056. Elsewhere, crews will be addressing edges and removing debris from FM 49 near Hainsville. Expect lane closures at each location with flaggers providing traffic control.<\/p>\n

I-20 and Toll 49 Total Maintenance Contract<\/p>\n

Limits: Gregg, Smith and Van Zandt counties
\n Contractor: Fireman Excavating<\/p>\n

Here\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s what you can expect along I-20 and Toll 49 this week:<\/p>\n

Monday – Debris removal from inside lane of I-20 and small sign crew at various locations in Smith and Van Zandt counties.
\n Tuesday – Debris removal from outside lane of I-20; delineator upgrades starting in Van Zandt county working eastbound to also include Toll 49
\n Wednesday – Debris removal and edge work on Toll 49; delineator upgrades on I-20.
\n Thursday – Debris removal continues on inside lane of I-20; guardrail repair where needed; delineator upgrades continue on I-20
\n Friday – Debris removal from outside lane of I-20; delineator upgrades continue on I-20<\/p>\n

This is a moving operation. Expect lane closures during debris removal from the inside lane of I-20. <\/p>\n

Wood County construction projects updates:<\/p>\n

SH 37 Roadway Repair<\/p>\n

Limits: from FM 2088 in Quitman to 0.4 miles south of FM 515 in Winnsboro
\n Contractor: Longview Bridge and Road, Ltd., of Longview
\n Cost: $7.7 million<\/p>\n

The contractor is conducting edge work and addressing driveways. Expect lane closures on this project that runs from 0.4 miles south of FM 515 in Winnsboro southward to FM 2088.<\/p>\n

FM 2869 Project<\/p>\n

Limits: From FM 852, south of Winnsboro going south to FM 2088
\n Contractor: Longview Bridge and Road, Ltd., of Longview<\/p>\n
