According to a UT Health Northeast news release, SACSCOC was founded in 1912, and is the regional body for the accreditation of degree-granting colleges and universities in the southern United States including Texas.  UT Health Northeast president Dr. Kirk Calhoun says the accreditation has &#8220;long been a goal&#8221; of the institution.
