Preliminary enrollment is 8,862, according to President Rodney H. Mabry.  In a news release, officials say this marks the largest fall semester enrollment increase in UT Tyler\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s history. Last year, the total headcount was 8,114 on the 12th class day, which is the fall census date. <!--more-->   <\/p>\n<p>In the news release, Mabry says in the past few years UTT has been one of the fastest-growing universities in Texas.  He adds that UTT\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s enrollment surge this semester is proof of the university\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s &#8220;ever-increasing economic impact on our state and region.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d  Officials say the university\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s enrollment continues to rise amidst enrollment stagnancy or decline at higher education institutions nationwide.
