Dr. Glynn Stone was elected to the post for the 2016 Southern Baptist Convention Pastors Conference this past Monday at the SBC annual meeting in Columbus, Ohio. Stone is one of three officers, joining president John Meador, senior pastor at First Baptist Church in Euless, and vice chairman Dr. Neal Franks, senior pastor at First Baptist Church in Branson, Missouri., who will set the theme, establish the schedule and enlist speakers and volunteers for the two-day conference focused on encouraging and inspiring pastors. The Pastors Conference will precede the SBC annual meeting next June in St. Louis, Missouri.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The honor of working alongside my good friend, Pastor John Meador, in coordinating the annual Pastor&#8217;s Conference for Southern Baptist Convention will be a labor of love for me,&#8221; Stone said. &#8220;I am grateful for the opportunity to invest in pastors and wives. As we already do at Mobberly, in loving our church planters, we aim to typify the adage of Jesus, &#8216;to whom much is given, much is required.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Stone was nominated for the post by one of his mentors, Dr. Gary Smith, senior pastor of Fielder Church in Arlington. Stone was the associate pastor at Fielder, then known as Fielder Road Baptist Church, under Smith in the late 1990s and early 2000s, before becoming senior pastor at West Rome Georgia Baptist Church in 2001.
