The pilot, Benjamin Kunziker, 64, has been airlifted to Tyler&#8217;s East Texas medical Center, where he is said to be in stable condition. State trooper Jean dark says the plane crashed southeast of Quitman, near County Road 3230 around 10:30 Tuesday morning. Preliminary information is that Kunziker was attempting to land on a private landing strip. The plane lost altitude due to decreasing winds, causing the wheels to clip the top of a group of trees. The aircraft landed nose first on the ground.
