The ceremony will take place at 2:00 p.m. today at 303 H.G. Mosley Parkway. In January, Longview City Council approved moving ahead with the construction of a new 20,885-square-foot animal shelter, to be operated by the city. Currently, the city does not own or operate a shelter, but instead contracts with the Humane Society of Northeast Texas to provide those services. <!--more--><br \/>\nGregg County has committed $2,500,000 towards the cost of the $5,750,000 project, with the city and donors contributing the remainder.
