Speakers included Tyler ISD Board President Rev. Orenthia Mason, TISD Superintendent Dr. Marty Crawford, TISD Foundation President Marc Loredo (pictured), and TISD Foundation Executive Director Maya Bethany.  One of the organization\u2019s founding directors, former mayor Barbara Bass, delivered an address as well.  The celebration was also the kickoff for the Foundation\u2019s 2015 Annual Fund Campaign. <!--more--> <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are fortunate to not only be one of the oldest kindergarten through 12th grade public school foundations in the state of Texas, but also in the nation,\u201d Bethany said. \u201cWe could not reach this milestone without the exceptional support of our community. Our supporters recognize the need to enhance the educational opportunities for our children and over the years have provided the resources to sustain our mission. We are so grateful for the each and every cent we have been able to put towards improving Tyler schools.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Tyler ISD Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization that provides funding for projects or programs that have not been funded or have been under-funded by the school district\u2019s operating budget. The organization has contributed almost $2 million to Tyler ISD.
