\"thumb_longview-cityof\"<\/a>LONGVIEW \u2013 The East Texas Anti-Trafficking Team and Partners in Prevention invite the East Texas community for a screening of the documentary \u201cIn Plain Sight.\u201d Executive Produced and Narrated by Natalie Grant, “In Plain Sight: Stories of Hope and Freedom” features six modern-day abolitionists as they fight sex trafficking across America, according to a city of Longview news release. With over 100 premieres in early 2015, the film is educating America to a problem plaguing our nation, according to the release. <\/p>\n

The screening will be presented at Mobberly Baptist Church, 625 E. Loop 281, Longview, in The Bridge building on Tuesday, Jan. 27. A light meal will be provided from 5:30-6 p.m. and the screening will start at 6:15 p.m., with discussion following the film. This event is suggested for those over the age of 13. Journeying to six U.S. cities, the documentary opens the viewer\u2019s eyes to what\u2019s happening down the street “in plain sight.” Through engaging interviews with numerous victims of sex trafficking, the force, coercion, and deception of the children and women becomes apparent, according to city officials. In the midst of the darkness, stories of hope and freedom emerge as each survivor shares how she was impacted through the work of a sex trafficking aftercare home, according to the news release.<\/p>\n

\u201cMost Americans are completely oblivious to the fact that thousands of women and children are enslaved within their own communities,\u201d said David Trotter, co-executive producer. \u201cThis isn\u2019t limited to Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and New York. We\u2019re talking about cities across America \u2013 from Sacramento to Little Rock to Baltimore \u2013 where the unthinkable is happening.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe reality is that children are being ravaged day in and day out. If you have a heart beating on the inside of you, I don\u2019t understand how this couldn\u2019t be important to you,\u201d said Natalie Grant, narrator and co-executive producer.<\/p>\n

\u201cSex Trafficking is a dark and horrible act upon vulnerable, precious lives throughout the nations, states and cities. In the United States, it is estimated over 100,000 children and women are being trafficked each year. It is difficult to imagine, but it is the current reality that sex trafficking is occurring in plain sight in America, even in East Texas,\u201d stated Sekettia Brantley, Partners in Prevention Liaison to the East Texas Anti-Trafficking Team. <\/p>\n
