{"id":321762,"date":"2014-12-23T10:17:44","date_gmt":"2014-12-23T16:17:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ktbb.com\/post\/?p=321762"},"modified":"2014-12-24T11:06:20","modified_gmt":"2014-12-24T17:06:20","slug":"holiday-greetings-as-gohmert-visits-troops-in-mideast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ktbb.com\/post\/?p=321762","title":{"rendered":"Holiday Greetings as Gohmert Visits Troops in Mideast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ktbb.com\/post\/wp-content\/media\/2014\/12\/thumb_louie-gohmert.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ktbb.com\/post\/wp-content\/media\/2014\/12\/thumb_louie-gohmert.jpg\" alt=\"thumb_louie-gohmert\" width=\"115\" height=\"120\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-321763\" \/><\/a>TYLER &#8212; East Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert came calling on our troops in the Middle East last week, on a mission to help brighten Christmas for soldiers so far from home.  &#8220;It seemed to mean a lot to them; it meant a lot to me,&#8221; Gohmert told KETK.  &#8220;Everybody who&#8217;s American has some special feelings, if you grew up in America, around Christmas time.&#8221;   The lawmaker met with some of our allies, leaders, and visiting armed forces in Afghanistan and Iraq to make the season a little brighter.  He added, &#8220;They&#8217;re saying members of Congress just don&#8217;t normally come to Afghanistan anymore &#8212; it&#8217;s too dangerous &#8212; but I figure if the troops are there, their congressmen can come too.&#8221;   Gohmert says he ate lunch with some of the Texas troops and toured the special ops headquarters.  &#8220;It was great to be with Texans!&#8221; he said. &#8220;One of them was an Aggie, and it was just great being with them.&#8221;    <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>According to to Gohmert, there are around 9,000 troops in Afghanistan alone, all of whom will not be home for the holidays.  Gohmert said, &#8220;Both in Afghanistan and Iraq they said the same things: it&#8217;s so nice to see somebody from home; we&#8217;re not going to be able to make it home for Christmas and thanks for coming.&#8221;   The congressman also encourages everyone to pray for those overseas this Christmas.
