At 1:23 Sunday morning, police were dispatched to a shooting that had just occurred in the 1400 Block of Mahlow Drive.  When officers arrived they were told by witnesses that there was a party at the location for some students from a nearby college.  The party had been posted on social media and people who were not invited had shown up at the home.  There was a confrontation between several of the people attending the party.  This confrontation led to several shots being fired from an unknown weapon or weapons. Two of the party attendees were hit by bullets and were transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center with what were termed non-life-threatening injuries. <!--more-->    <\/p>\n<p>Police have been told that members of a local street gang may have been involved in the shooting.  Anyone with information on the identities of the people involved is asked to contact the Longview Police Department at 903-237-1199 or submit an anonymous tip to Gregg County Crimestoppers at 903-236-7867.<\/p>\n<p>With the holiday season fast approaching, Longview police want citizens to know that if they plan to have an event, and don&#8217;t want the event to be open to the public, do not post it on social media sites or handout flyers.  Another tip to tell your guests: know when you send out an invitation that the party is not open to just anyone who would like to attend.  Just as in this case, posting information on the location and times of the party brought unwanted guests who caused problems, according to police.
