According to the Jacksonville Progress Online, Rebecca Barker, 52, waived her right to a jury trial during an Oct. 8 proceeding. Barker was charged with first-degree murder after her husband was discovered fatally shot Feb. 26 at a residence in the 9000 block of US Hwy. 84 West in Rusk.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>According to the paper, a woman identified as &#8220;Rebecca&#8221; said she had shot her husband. When officers arrived at the couple&#8217;s residence, they found a deceased man sitting in a chair in the living room. The caller was identified as Rebecca Barker. Barker&#8217;s husband, 76-year-old Jerry Barker, suffered a single fatal gunshot wound. <\/p>\n<p>Barker was transported to the Cherokee County Sheriff&#8217;s Office, and subsequently charged with murder.
