It happened around 8:30 Thursday night. According to Sgt. Matt Leigeber, the officer was in his patrol car, traveling east in the inside lane on the loop, when a westbound car turned south, directly into his path. Both vehicle sustained extensive damage. The officer, who was not identified in the police department news release, sustained minor but non-life threatening injuries and was taken to East Texas Medical Center.
