He earned his Texas superintendent certification and a doctorate in educational administration from Texas A&#038;M University-Commerce. He completed his 2006 dissertation on the Texas school superintendent, conducting research that identified the nexus of 1983\u2019s A Nation at Risk as the turning point for Texas school superintendent leadership.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Dr. Crawford holds a Bachelor of Education from Baylor University, a Master of Education from The University of Oklahoma and has worked in Dallas ISD, Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD, Highland Park ISD and Oklahoma City Public Schools. He has held various professional positions at the high school, middle school and elementary school levels.<\/p>\n<p>When named the lone finalist for the position last month, Tyler school board president Rev. Orenthia Mason said, \u201cWe are excited as we welcome an experienced superintendent who is a proven educational visionary and an inspirational leader.
