In a news release, officials say Lyons is a 22-year veteran of the Longview Police Department.  At 3:52 p.m. August 7, Lyons conducted a traffic stop in the 400 Block of Delwood Drive near Akin Park.  During the traffic stop there was gunfire.  The suspect, 23-year-old Regan Marshall Wagner of Longview, was transported to Longview Regional Hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died at the hospital.  Lyons was not injured.
