Officials say the TCA is a group of nine hospital systems throughout the state that are collaborating as part of an ongoing effort to assist patients in navigating the changing healthcare landscape in the coming months and years. <!--more--> <\/p>\n<p>In March of 2013, the TCA was created as a \u201ccentral organization\u201d designed to build expertise in population health management, capitalize on economies of scale, and accelerate the rapid adoption of clinical and operational best practices. In doing so, the members of TCA seek to improve and integrate the key pieces of the healthcare value chain through a shared commitment to adopt common metrics, measure performance, and share clinical and administrative best practices, according to the news release.  Officials say the TCA is neither a merger nor an acquisition, but rather a collaboration between a group of healthcare providers that cover 193 Texas counties and 20 percent of the state\u2019s registered hospital beds.
