LAKE HAWKINS \u2014 One person died while swimming at Lake Hawkins Sunday evening. According to Game Warden Kurt Kelley, the Wood County Sheriff’s Office received a call for help shortly after 5 p.m. KETK reports Kelley was dispatched to the scene at about 5:10 p.m. When Kelley arrived at the Lake Hawkins RV Park, he learned a group of people had been swimming in the beach area when a 20-year-old man disappeared into the lake. The man’s body was recovered around 7 p.m. Authorities believe fatigue played a factor in the man’s death. The incident remains under investigation.
