KETK reports Patricia Hesler was sentenced to serve one year in jail after pleading guilty to forgery and first-degree felony theft. She pleaded guilty to the charges in March, after she admitted to stealing $320,000 from the foundation while working as an administrative assistant for the accounting firm the foundation uses.  The embezzlement took place over a four-year period.  In addition to jail time, 10 years of probation, and community service, Hesler will be required to pay back all $320,000 she stole.  <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Longview ISD Education Foundation is a non-profit organization that funds grants for educators to maximize the quality of education at Longview ISD.  Executive Director Kay Ray says finding out about the embezzlement didn&#8217;t stop the foundation from helping students as usual.   &#8220;We found about the embezzlement and carried on. That&#8217;s when we began the annual fundraising drive for our awards banquet&#8230;that went right on&#8230;from that we moved on to our annual restaurant card sale that we do, that can make up to $8,000 for the foundation. Longview ISD. Foundation has done nothing but try to raise money and support Longview ISD. campuses and classrooms.&#8221;    Hesler has already paid back $260,000 of the restitution.
