\nDALLAS — The Board of Directors of the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas (GSNETX) announced Wednesday that it has appointed current Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Jennifer Bartkowski as Chief Executive Officer effective May 12, 2014. Bartkowski succeeds Colleen Walker following her appointment as the Eugene McDermott CEO of the Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas last month. Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas serves over 33,000 girls and 17,000 adults in 32 northeast Texas counties.<\/p>\n

Bartkowski has been with GSNETX since 2009, when she joined the council as Chief Development Officer. During her tenure, GSNETX has seen significant growth in its annual and capital fundraising campaigns. As Chief Operating Officer, she added focus and innovation to new programming initiatives, mission delivery, and the Girl Scout Cookie Program for the 32-county organization. Most recently, Bartkowski has been leading a $13 million effort to transform a current 100-acre property in South Dallas into a STEM Center of Excellence for girls in Northeast Texas.<\/p>\n

“Jennifer has been instrumental in elevating Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas into a high-capacity, high-performing council, and the timing is absolutely right for her to take the helm,” said Millie Bradley, Chair of the Board of Directors for Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas. “We are extremely grateful to Colleen for her leadership and transformative work over the past seven years, developing a Girl Scout Council recognized for its strengths in preparing girls for leadership in the 21st century. And, as an added bonus, the Girl Scouts and the Perot Museum have enjoyed a longstanding partnership, which will continue to deepen and mature for both organizations.”<\/p>\n
